Members are encouraged to nominate or self-nominate for one of these awards as a means for recognizing achievements and encouraging future progress of the field. Applications for 2018 are now closed. Applications for 2019 will open February 4th.

This award honors an individual who best exemplifies the qualities of dedication, service, and involvement with the profession of histotechnology and NSH:

Histotechnologist of the Year


This award honors an individual for outstanding and exceptional service to NSH:

J.B. McCormick MD Award


This award will be given to an individual who excels, promotes and educates in the discipline of IHC:

Jules Elias Excellence in Immunohistochemistry Award


This award is to recognize an individual dedicated to sharing their knowledge of histotechnology with others:

Leica Leadership in Teaching Award


This award will be presented to a histology laboratory that exhibits excellence in patient care. Efficient testing turnaround time, error free reporting, willingness to incorporate new techniques, dedication of laboratory staff and extraordinary levels of laboratory performance are qualities that the recipient of this award exhibits:

Biocare Medical Excellence in Patient Care Lab Award


This award is given to an individual who excels, promotes, and educates in the discipline of calcified/decalcified bone, other materials such as stents in vascular research or bioengineered constructs:

Polysciences Ann Preece Award


This award honors an individual who best exemplifies qualities of dedication and devotion to their patients, profession, co-workers, staff, and place of employment:
