Before applying, please review the specific requirements for each scholarship. Previous recipients may apply for other awards or scholarships but are not eligible for the same scholarship again.

Molecular Histotechnology Advancement Scholarship

Recognition

 This scholarship aims to support histotechnologists who are expanding their skills into the molecular space—a growing area of practice in histology. With the integration of molecular techniques, biomarker studies, and AI-driven analysis in FFPE tissue processing, the role of the histotechnologist is evolving rapidly. This scholarship will help members gain the education, training, or resources they need to advance their molecular expertise and contribute to the future of the profession. Funds may be used for training, continuing education, certification, or other professional development opportunities related to molecular histology. The recipients will be recognized during a General Session at the 2026 NSH Annual Convention in San Antonio, TX and the recipients receives $500.

Criteria/Applicant Requirements

  • Must be a current NSH member for more than one year
  • One letter of recommendation
  • Submit a 200-300 word statement describing how this scholarship will help advance your molecular histotechnology career.

Peggy Wenk Histology Program Scholarship

Recognition

This award is given to an HT or HTL NAACLS approved program in honor of Peggy Wenk, a true champion of the field of histology and a legendary histotechnologist with a passion for teaching.  Funds may be used to further educational opportunities for students using NSH educational events, webinars, textbooks, reagents for hands-on instruction, guest speakers, equipment and poster development. The recipient is recognized during a General Session at the 2026 NSH Annual Convention in San Antonio, TX and the program receives $5,000.

Criteria/Applicant Requirements

  • Program Director or Education Coordinator must be an NSH member for a minimum of 2 consecutive years
  • A one page narrative that outlines the planned utilization for the funds
  • Program Director or Education Coordinator's CV/Resume

    Convention Travel Scholarship

    Recognition

    These scholarships are intended to provide those in histology the opportunity to attend the NSH Convention to advance their education and knowledge in the field but may not have the funds to do so. The funds can be used to cover the costs of travel, an NSH hotel and food to attend the convention.  The scholarship includes complimentary registration to the 2026 NSH Convention. The recipient is awarded $750 towards travel convention travel costs to the 2026 NSH Annual Convention in San Antonio, TX.

    Criteria/Applicant Requirements

    • Must be a current NSH member
    • Letter of intent that includes why attending the convention is important to you.

    These scholarships are intended to provide those in histology the opportunity to attend and present their research in the form of a scientific poster presentation at the 2026 NSH Annual Convention. The scholarship can be used to cover costs of travel, an NSH hotel and food to attend the convention. The scholarship includes complimentary registration to the 2026 NSH Annual Convention. The recipient is awarded $750 towards travel convention travel costs to the 2026 NSH Annual Convention in San Antonio, TX.


    Criteria/Applicant Requirements

    • Must be a current member
    • Letter of intent that includes why attending the convention is important to you and the topic of your scientific poster
    • Must complete the poster presentation submission form for the NSH Convention.
