The New Professionals Legislative Leadership Scholarship

NSH is seeking four new histology professionals interested in representing the laboratory profession at the Annual Legislative Symposium, which will be held March 16-17th in Washington, DC.

While attending, the recipients will:
  • Participate in sessions presented by ASCLS to learn about the relevant issues facing the laboratory profession.
  • Meet with their local representatives to present information and recommendations on issues effecting laboratory science, including The PAMA Act, workforce shortages, and CMS Personnel Regulations.

Scholarship includes: 

  • NSH will cover the cost of attendee travel, hotel (will be sharing a room with another attendee of the same gender), as well as per diem meals.
  • Attendees will be provided coaching on topics to cover during their representative meetings
Attendees will come away from the Symposium with a better understanding of the political system, as well as confidence that they have contributed to the future of the laboratory science profession. Click here to read an article from last year's winners.

Criteria/Applicant Requirements

  • Recipient must be a current NSH member, may join at the time of applying
  • Must be a U.S resident (must have U.S representatives to meet with)
  • Must be a new professional (entered the workforce within the last 10 years)
  • Must submit the application form. 
  • Must provide a letter of recommendation that describes the applicant’s qualifications for the scholarship 
  • Must provide a narrative, written by the applicant, detailing their interest in leadership development and attending the Legislative Symposium
  • CV/Resume
  • Only complete application packages received by the closing date will be considered
Additional Application Requirements
  • Applicant should have an interest in developing their leadership skills
  • Applicant should have an interest in legislation and its impact on the histology profession
  • Applicant must be available March 16-17, 2020 to attend the Symposium
  • Applicant will write an article after the event for NSH In Action 

Applications must be received by January 17th to be considered.
